Senior Structural Engineer – Plan Review | 100% Remote (LATAM) | Bilingual
Can you spot a missing hurricane strap on sheet S-3 in seconds? A US-based engineering consulting practice is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to review residential and light commercial projects in Texas and Florida — fully remote from anywhere in Latin America.
What you'll do
Review structural drawing sets for code compliance (FBC, IRC/IBC, ASCE 7) before they are sealed by a US Professional Engineer.
Run wind, gravity, foundation and connection calculations.
Write clear, sheet-by-sheet punch lists and coordinate corrections with Spanish-speaking drafters.
Work on single-family homes, additions, decks, pool enclosures, PT slabs, retaining walls and light commercial build-outs, including hurricane-zone projects.
What we're looking for
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
7+ years in structural design or plan review for residential / low-rise buildings.
Strong wind load analysis and concrete, CMU, wood and light steel design.
Fluent, professional written and spoken English + Spanish.
Structural analysis and PDF markup tools (Bluebeam, Enercalc, RISA or similar).
Full availability during US Central business hours.
Bonus points: US codes, Miami-Dade HVHZ, post-tensioned slabs / ADAPT, AutoCAD, previous work with US firms, EIT or PE path.

Responsabilidades Clave
- Review structural, civil and select MEP sheets for code compliance and design adequacy (FBC 2023, ASCE 7-22, 2021 IRC/IBC)
- Perform wind, gravity, foundation and connection calculations to verify or self-clear review items
- Write clear, enumerated punch lists organized by sheet number, stating the issue, the fix and the code basis
- Communicate corrections to CAD drafters (Spanish-speaking partners) and re-check revised sets item by item against the prior punch list
- Flag only genuine code-blocking issues, keeping output consistent with the firm's written review standard
- Support the production of engineering letters and compliance documentation
- Help refine the standardized review process and templates as volume grows
Cualificaciones Requeridas
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 7+ years of structural design or plan review experience in residential and low-rise construction
- Strong command of wind load analysis and design of concrete, masonry (CMU), wood and light steel structures
- Ability to read and mark up full permit drawing sets quickly and accurately
- Demonstrated experience producing written review comments or calculation packages in English
- Proficiency with structural analysis and PDF markup tools
- Senior-level structural judgment, working with minimal supervision
- Comfort with a high-volume, fast-turnaround workflow across many small projects at once
- Fully bilingual English/Spanish, with professional-grade written English
- Reliable remote setup and full availability during US Central business hours
Deseables
- Working familiarity with US model codes: FBC, IRC, IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NDS
- Hurricane / high-wind design experience, especially Miami-Dade HVHZ requirements
- Post-tensioned slab-on-grade design or ADAPT software
- Enercalc, RISA or similar
- AutoCAD or drafting coordination background
- Previous work with US engineering or architecture firms
- EIT certification or progress toward a US PE-equivalent credential
